For those who are interested, the title of this blog comes from a quote by the Greek philosopher Epictetus, whose very name means acquired. I chose it because it embodies the fact that as individuals we grow and develop over time. Some of us may be born with great talents, but it is only with experience that we can expect full maturity.

“No great thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you that there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.”
